Project Overview

Regulatory intelligence refers to the systematic process of gathering, analyzing, and interpreting information related to regulatory developments and changes that impact a specific industry or organization. It involves monitoring government agencies, legislative bodies, and regulatory authorities to stay informed about new laws, guidelines, and compliance requirements. Regulatory intelligence helps businesses and professionals to proactively adapt and comply with evolving regulations, ensuring they operate within legal boundaries and avoid potential penalties. By staying up-to-date with the latest regulatory trends, organizations can make well-informed decisions, mitigate risks, and maintain a competitive edge in a rapidly changing regulatory landscape.

Problem Statement

HMW create a unified, real-time regulatory intelligence solution that reduces manual work, combats information overload, improves search and accessibility, instills user confidence, and fosters seamless knowledge sharing across the organization?

Pain Points

Internal Knowledge Management Gaps * Even within organizations, there is a lack of structured sharing of regulatory updates. * People don’t know which repositories to trust, or how to verify the accuracy of internal data.

Limited Searchability and Access * Many existing systems do not have robust search functions, or require multiple logins. * Teams may not know where to find the right data source, even if it’s technically “available.”

Lack of Confidence in Utility * Because of scattered information, users are often unaware of the exact value these tools bring. * This leads to low adoption and inconsistent usage.

Information Overload * Multiple sources—each with different formats and levels of detail—lead to confusion. * Teams are unsure how to quickly derive summaries or key actionable steps.

Overreliance on Manual Processes * Submissions and planning often involve spreadsheets and email threads. * This manual approach increases the risk of human error and duplication of effort.

Lack of Real-Time Updates Across Geographies * Regulations change frequently, making it difficult to track everything in real time. * Some HAs do not promptly post updates online.

Use cases

Initial Mocks

Usability Testing

We began by creating a comprehensive set of test scenarios tailored to realistic user tasks, then identified suitable participants and hosted a briefing call to ensure everyone understood the process. During each session, we used our Observer Documentation Template to capture participant behaviors, pinpoint moments of confusion, and gather immediate feedback. These insights were aligned with a problem-led feature prioritization framework, allowing us to focus on the most critical design issues. By analyzing recurring themes—such as difficulties finding the navigation panel or navigating multi-step processes—we enacted targeted design changes, iterating on our interface to better align with user expectations. This methodical approach helped us streamline the user journey, reduce friction, and ultimately deliver a more intuitive, satisfying experience.
